My Thoughts:
So many things to talk about, I do not know where to start. I loved Eona’s character as a whole. I liked how torn she was about between being a boy or a girl. At some times she did not even want to acknowledge that she was one. I enjoyed the fact that she was not a scared heroin that let the men control what she did. When Lady Dela’s story was told, I was touched. The fact that she was a twin soul, also known as a contraire, meaning she was part moon and sun energy.
In this amazing story there were so many awesome and yet sad twists that made it come to life. I really enjoyed the major twist that the mirror dragon was a female and that since Eona is the mirror Dragoneye, her dragons name is her own. I was sad when I read about her master’s death, as well as the prince’s baby brother and mother’s death; I did not see that coming at all. I was shocked that she did not kill off Ido, even though I wanted to kill him every time her kissed or touched Eona, and hurt Dillon. It made the story line more interesting when she gave his heart back to him.
I completely feel in love with her world and the whole dragon apprentice idea. I do not love that fact that girls cannot practice this magic but it still makes a great story plot. The characters growth throughout the book complimented the pace of the story line very well. Alison Goodman had great descriptions throughout the story, from the palace, the clothing, to the festivals and she was even able to bring her food to life and make you taste what she was describing.
The only bad thing I have to write about is that I thought that the book was a little too long for my taste. I am not saying that she should shorten it, I am just saying that it took longer for me to finish then I thought even though I did read pgs 330-531 all within two hrs, lol. I cannot wait until I pick up the sequel. I am going to save the sequel for another month in the year though. It is going to be in my sequels month where I read the 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th book in a series I read and loved. Over all this book was amazing and I would recommend it to everyone I know.
Happy readings!
